Lincolnshire has added to its award winning holiday/short break accommodation. Wilson's Cottage, built in 1834 has opened its doors after being renovated by Channel 4 Grand Designs finalists - Kyson Design. The cottage is nestled in the historic city of Lincoln and offers truly unique accommodation in a remarkable city. Built in 1834 from stone of fallen local churches the grade II listed cottage fell into disrepair until the Lincoln Civic Trust renovated the exterior. Scott Kyson, who is originally from Lincolnshire, was helped by many members of his family to renovate the interior of the cottage; breathing new life into the historic building. Scott said:
"When we came across the old cottage that was originally built by celebrated architect 'Edward J Willson' we wanted to complete a project that reflected the Riads we'd recently visited in Marrakech. We wanted to create something that had all the decadence of a 5* hotel whilst retaining a homely feel and considering the historic nature of the shell. With dramatic décor - that wouldn't look out of place in a boutique hotel, under-floor heating, four-poster bed and a plasma screen the luxury cottage is situated in Lincoln's Cathedral Quarter. The accommodation which has recently been awarded its 4* self catering rating is the perfect base to explore the ancient yet vibrant city of Lincoln. "We already have a really high calibre of self catering accommodation in the county and Willson's Cottage will be a welcome addition.
